Land Art Weekend 2022

Land Art Weekend 2022: looking, drawing, listening and tai-chi
4 & 5 June, 11.00-17.00 hours

Noordoostpolder, Zeewolde, Lelystad, Almere and Dronten

This year's Land Art Weekend 2022 will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June. With an extensive programme, all the works of land art in Flevoland will be put in the spotlight during this weekend. At each work of art there will be a guide who knows a lot about the work of art and can answer all your questions, and there are various activities.

The virtual reality project by Black Pencil will premiere at The Green Cathedral (De Groene Kathedraal) on 4 June; Tai Chi Tao Lelystad will give tai chi lessons twice a day at Exposure; you can follow drawing workshops by Elianne Koolstra at Riff, PD#18245; and at PIER+HORIZON artist Paul de Kort himself will be present to discuss the future of the artwork. Also on the programme: spoken word, performances by young artists, a morning concert, a theatre walk, a guided tour by a restorer and a whispering performance.

Tip: buy your ticket in advance for the theatre walk by De Waterlanders in Deltawerk //, the rest of the programme is free.

New: also on the dyke

For the first time, the dyke between Lelystad and Enkhuizen participates in the Land Art Weekend. The sound artwork Engelen/Angels FM 98.0 by Moniek Toebosch can be heard over the entire length of the dike. The artwork from 1994 has been revived as an app and has recently been added to the collection Land Art Flevoland. During the weekend, spoken-word artist Sandy Bosmans reacts to Toebosch's work in her poems.

Restored works of art

Thanks to a boost from the Province of Flevoland, two works of art from the land art collection have been restored and the restoration of a third work of art is progressing steadily. Come and see the newly planted trees of The Green Cathedral, the new entrance of Observatory, and the tests that have been made to clean Sea Level. Restorer Anne Rupert will be at Sea Level on Sunday to discuss the state of the artwork with visitors.

On the occasion of the restoration of The Green Cathedral, Calliope Tsoupaki (2018-2021 Composer of the Netherlands) wrote the composition INTO SPACE, which will be performed by Black Pencil on Saturday morning, 4 June: this opens the Land Art Weekend!

Drawing drawing drawing

This year there is also a lot of attention for drawing. Elianne Koolstra has made illustrations of all the artworks for the free magazine of Land Art Flevoland, which was made possible by the Vriendenloterij. Koolstra's illustration of De Groene Kathedraal (The Green Cathedral) adorns the poster of the Land Art Weekend this year.

Koolstra will give drawing workshops on Saturday and Sunday at Riff, PD#18245. Look at the artwork from all sides, get inspired, and draw it yourself! Bring your own drawing materials or buy for a small price the unique Land Art Flevoland sketchpad with beautiful drawing paper and lots of drawing tips.

Where is this happening?

The land art is spread across the municipalities of Noordoostpolder, Zeewolde, Lelystad, Almere and Dronten and the works are mostly located in the outskirts of these places. Click here for the addresses and coordinates of parking places.
